Loofah Sponge -organic, natural loofah gourd for body and household use

This amazing vegetable, part of the gourd family, is grown right here on our farm in West Central Indiana.   Like all gourds, it is a climbing plant.  Once trellised, these vigorous plants are full of cylindrical gourds.  We allow the gourd to dry on the vine before hand-harvesting and processing them.  Loofah sponges are a great all natural, biodegradable alternative to synthetic sponges. Loofah sponge is composed of slightly rough fibers that exfoliate skin to reveal healthy, glowing complexion. Exfoliation with the loofah should be limited to once or twice a week to avoid aggravating the skin. That is not their only use.  They are also perfect in the kitchen.  Washing dishes is a breeze with these wonderful multi-purpose gourds.  The loofah will arrive dry and stiff, but after the first rinse, it will quickly soften and become pliable. The loofah should be allowed to dry completely between each use.
